The generator for my 52 seems to be from a type one VW. I have put on pulleys bought at the lit meet supposed to be correct for a preA.Attempting to fit a D regulator. The holes don't line up . It seems like the reg I have is too long to have the belt vertical.
My questions, is a preA generator for a two piece case the same as specked for 3 piece case .
Any leads on where to chase one down?
Thanks
Mark

Re: Generator for 1953 two piece case
The generator for engines from 1951 through the end of 1953 was the same as used on VW engines from the period. This is the 130 watt
Bosch RED 130/6 2600 AL 16
The matching regulator is the D-shaped
Bosch RS/G 130/6/11
These were standard on 1951-53 VWs, so you should be able to find them for your Porsche pretty easily. The Porsche engine used a different upper and lower pulley than the VW motor, and thus a different sized belt too.
