No, those horns are 12-volt models for Mercedes Benz and other period cars which had 12-volt systems. The mounting brackets are correct for mid-54 onward. Not for 1953.

And no, that's a later 1960s voltage regulator.

Generator RED 130/6 2600 AL16
Regulator RS/G 130/6/11
Porsche and VW stopped using that regulator around the same time in late 1953.
Here's what the D-style regulator and a 130 watt generator look like. (From the numbers this looks like an earlier generator - the AL15 was used from '51 until they started using the AL16. Not sure about the regulator as the Bosch list of wear & tear parts indicates the model RS/G 130/6/1 regulator was used with the AL15 dynamo, and the 6/11 model with the AL16 as James indicates above. I think the Samba model is a RS/G 130-150/6/2 possibly indicating OK for 130W up to 150W?).

I got this in a box of miscellaneous 356 stuff years ago and just put it on a shelf.
I've just noticed the markings on the bracket, below the terminal connection info of
+61 B+ it's stamped
TA 7V 45A, then below this
D190 213 036
Would I be right in assuming this is VW?

Vincent,
My collection of Bosch wear & tear parts lists only goes through 1958 models which show the 160W regulator from Sept '56 to be no. RS/UA 160/6/24.
I would trust James' assessment that yours is a 60s model regulator. Perhaps someone has the wear & tear list for later models they could share.

James how do the mounting brackets and posts differ on a 53 car- do you have an image or reference . Mine are missing from the car

Ross,
There is no mounting bracket on my '53. The horn is mounted with a single long bolt through a hole in the driver side fender brace flat metal plate, a steel tube over the bolt as a "stand off" to move the horn forward, and then through the multi-leaf horn bracket. In the photo you can see the mounting hole in the fender brace (before straightening/repair). I can get a photo of the mounted horn in the next day or so if helpful.

That’s the money shot James- I’ll send to Julian to see if he has this mounting post set up

Ross,
Here's the mounted horn. Sorry for the photo orientation - somehow it got turned CCW. Other than the multi-leaf bracket that Julian sells, there is nothing else required but a bolt, nut, a few washers and a short piece of steel tube who's ID fits over the bolt.

Brilliant thanks. Appreciate the picture. Very clear.
Julian Hardy has been very helpful and can supply everything I need - order done and now I know how it is to be correctly mounted- on to the next job :)

Notice the 1953 and earlier vibration mounts have 3 leaves, but each leaf is only single thickness. The later ones were two layers.

My 53 seats might need some work :)
So question for the forum- the drivers seat has no adjustment- only a tip forward back rest. The passenger seat has a full recliner mechanism.

Is this correct or have I somehow ended up with incorrect seats. They appear to be original for the car and the corduroy is correct to the Reutter Build Sheet

My Glove Box and Ash tray knobs are cracked badly - Repair doesn't seem an option.
Has anyone used the repros available form KarmannKonnection? Wondering about quality and if correct size before I order.
