Hood Handle Location

#1 Post by Frank Hood »

Hello

Sometime in the past the hood handle on my 53 was shaved. I have now located the correct handle and would like to assure I mount it in the correct location. Could someone tell me the distance from the lip of the hood to the front tip of the handle or better yet the distance from the lip of the hood to the center of the first mounting hole?

Many thanks!
Frank

Is this for the location of the eponymous handle of Frank?

Mine is 1 1/2" from the lip to the beginning of the hood ornament and 2 1/2" to the first two bolts. I would make a paper template of the bolt pattern and edge of the ornament because they might not be the same as mine. And since my car had a frame off the measurement might not be as accurate as someone who has an original.

Frank, doesn't your car get the very small handle with no emblem? If so I thought that had only two studs, but mine is missing so I cannot look at it. It was from a 53, I think.

You're welcome Frank. Martin, the '53 Pre-A handle has 3 studs. My cab is an early '54 build but a '53 body. The front stud on mine is in need of some help.

Thanks to everyone pitching in I now have my hood handle mounted. I currently have a 52 and early handle mounted until I can replace the studs on my 53 handle. Again thanks for the help!
