Duct tape glue on Pre-A dash

The summer heat melted duct tape off the windshield of '54 Pre-A 60441 and onto the dash just above the radio hole. I'm keeping the original dash paint with it's check marks and a few scratches so I need advice on a safe way to remove the glue. Thank you!

I have used wd 40 won't harm the paint rub it off with a paper towel

We use Antibacterial soap like Purell. Readily available and cleans off glue residue. Much safer than Goof Off.

I had the WD-40 and it worked perfectly...will try the Purell next time. Much thanks guys!

Use a hair dryer first to warm it up if your garage is cold.
Then the chemical of your choice.

Most car detailers use lighter fluid. That's what they use on pesky tree sap. Strong enough to get it off, but not strong enough to harm the paint or clear coat. Works good on tape glue, weatherstip adhesive (if just applied) and interior (yellow) glue.
