Pre-A Fuel Petcock disassembly

Do the early 1952/'53 356 fuel petcocks require a special tool for disassembly? A friend has one that does not use the circlip like later Pre-A and A cars. Instead it looks like we need to unscrew a threaded plug to get inside. Screw drivers don't seem to cut it. Any homemade tool ideas? Thanks.

Here's a page from my Service Manual (1954) that shows it takes a special spanner. Today I finished rebuilding my slightly later model (Aug. 1953) with just a circlip and will post the details on an existing related thread. BTW, treasure the filter as early ones are NLA. They use a 8 x 1.25 thread while the later and repros use a 8 x 1.0 thread.

David

Thanks David.
That helps a lot and a spanner-type tool was not something I had considered. I'll see what our machinist can replicate for the job.
