Hi Alfred,

It gets clamped to the defroster tube. Here's a photo of the one from my July 1953 coupe. It's basically two muffler clamps (of different diameter) welded together.

Contact Rick Albro. He's a registry member.

Also, which pump do you have?

Thanks James! Alfred some of the washer pumps had a spacer depending on weather you have the barrel shaped or the cylinder shaped pump. I think the same bracket was used but the barrel shaped pumps needed a bit more diameter... James did a great job of documenting the various pumps in the linked post. James makes a good point the housing for James pump was made exactly the same as the housing for my pump. The diameters are the same to with in my ability to measure. The brackets when drawn tight would therefor be comparable. James' bracket does not need the spacer but my bracket does have a spacer. Both cars are 53 model years. Pre A cars indeed have many fine details!

To add one more wrinkle, the original bracket from my car is actually sized exactly for the barrel pump used in 1953. Here's a photo showing the perfect fit.

Rick restored the pump for me - remade the barrel-shaped housing - and did a tremendous job!
