Help please!
Found this in my '53 box of parts labeled "door parts". Obviously some type of adjustment mechanism, but I don't remember taking it off or know what it is used for. The hex bolt is 6 X 50MM and the slotted, flat head machine screws are 6 X 8MM. Anybody recognize this piece?

'53 Reutter Cab #60238 (08/17/53).
I only have one in my box of parts removed from the car 3-years ago. There might be another one attached to one of the doors, but I won't see the car until Friday to check. I'm far from positive it's off the door, but it ended up in the door parts box of stuff.

Whew! Thankfully I found the other one packed with my front wheel parts. Still don't know what they're for, but I have a complete set of 'em

I have taken more doors apart a few times on my cab (60297), but don't recognise those.

I would think possibly convertible top parts of some sort. Nothing my B has, however

I agree. My pre-A Cab hasn't had a top since before 1970 but the countersunk screws look like something that would be used to allow clearance on some sort of moving scissors mechanism. They needed an adjustable stop in the system and that was the solution. Being essentially hidden, it did not require a fancy design. 100% guessing.

The 57 T1 cab I am putting back together has brackets like that in the door and are used as adjustable stops for the window regulators. The cab needs them to adjust the windows to the top. Not sure if the pre-A's would have used them too in the earlier cars like yours. I will take a pic tonight or tomorrow to show its mounting point (near the top center of the door).

And here it is in the '56 workshop manual. Makes sense. If the glass is too high it bulges out at the top where it strikes the seal and likely doesn't fit tightly against the front & rear seals. Obviously this final adjustment will have to be made after the convertible top is finished and before the door panels are installed. Thanks very much Jim. Quite a whatsit indeed!
