FWIW, based on photos of existing cars, it appeared cabriolets started getting 519 transmissions sometime between chassis 15035 and 15040. Perhaps there's a Service Bulletin that has this information?

By no means gospel the '53 parts book shows the 519 boxes starting with 15051 at the transition of '52s made in '52 and '53s made in '52.James Davies wrote:FWIW, based on photos of existing cars, it appeared cabriolets started getting 519 transmissions sometime between chassis 15035 and 15040. James is of course correct about the leatherette sleeves on the top springs, but caution using the vinyl material for a color match. My '53 interior had the dark "reddish brown" leather and my leatherette sleeves are a pukey, pinkish red color.

Great info Spencer!
I finally got time to go to the shop to inspect if I could get any traces of material to determine original color of interior.
After closer inspection I spotted some red/brown material in the corners and some coming through the 'black' as well. Then I picked up the back seat and saw the red coming through in a lot of spots. One of the guys at the shop said the stuff looked like it was dyed. We brought some product and voila!
Look at this! It looks exactly like Spencer original stuff!
Do you guys think it is original? I think so.
Let me know.
Thanks

Rod funny you mention the off color vinyl on your spring covers ..
my 55 cab spring boot covers were a dull blue. My interior is a light grey on gray. The outside of the car is a adria blue. I'm thinking, when it came to the boots, it was what ever scrap they had ...

Here are 3 photos of my car , started life as a 1955 Continental in US , eventually became an outlaw in Australia , but kept up appearances of the original , with Beck pneumatic fuel gauge and working Telefunken radio along with original instruments .....except for being lowered , using C running gear and 912 engine with 12 volt electrics .....and of course becoming RHD !

Other of my Pre A's, 1953. What a discovery 1500 Super, NO rust, orig. interior .
I noticed the mention of 5014, look what I came across in Registry vol. 9 , No 4. May/June 1983.

Cool car Stephen! Looks like it was originally Palm green underneath the flaked repaint. And from the first half of 1953 based on the rear garnish rails (held on with screws). Still has its (rusty) chromed steel bumper guards too! Do you remember the chassis number of this one? Hopefully it hasn't been restored since you owned it?
