Flywheel depth
I am looking for the flywheel depth for a 1500s motor. The Maestro,s little spec book only goes to 1955 three pic motor and nothing on the two pic motors. The reading I get are on the flywheel I have is 0.906 And the 180mm flywheel in the book shows 0.944. About the with of a nickel an that seems like a lot to me. Not sure to what depth to go?????

Alfred:
I am pretty sure that the 2 piece case flywheels share dimensions with 36 HP VW flywheels, with the exception of the 8 dowel pins. Have a look at an old VW spec book and see. I also think that the dimension of the flywheel did not change at the end of 1954, the later flywheels are the same . ( except Super 90 )

Re: Flywheel depth
You will find the flywheel depth for all models in the Factory Spec Book, pages 17-19. The early clutch is called the A-10. In the Workshop Manual, you will find the wear tolerance to be 0,2 mm (.008 in). So, the nominal depth is 24,00 mm (.945 in) and acceptable wear down to 23,80 mm (.937 in). However, what's acceptable can depend on the thickness of the disc.
In any event, see below.

Re: Flywheel depth
Wouldn't it wear (or be machined) deeper, not shallower? So 24.2 mm is the limit.
