Here is an ignition switch we rebuilt for a member but with a twist. Once we received the switch and inspected it, it was determined that the lock cylinder was not rotating smoothly and sometimes hung up. As it turns out there was wear to the the tumblers enough that the original key code was no longer viable. The member wanted to retain the use of his original oem key, so the the lock was repinned to conform to his key.

Here is another ignition that was a complete rebuild. We rebuilt the electrical switch and also rebuilt the lock cylinder. The lock cylinder was repinned to the customer's original key code. The pin tumblers and key had extensive wear. If you look closely you will see how worn the old key is as compared to the new one that was cut to code. Now he has a new key to code and rebuilt ignition.
When tumblers and keys are worn to this degree, the wear pattern results in effectively changing the original key code to another unknown foreign code.

Glad to see you are up and running again. I hope you didn't suffer too much damage from the hurricane.

Hello Mike,
Thank you so much for thinking of us. We are in the same place as all of our fellow hurricane survivors in Texas, Florida, The Keys and The Caribbean. We wish all affected, as well as, their friends and loved ones affected by these storms prayers and good wishes in these difficult times. We are also survivors of Andrew, so we do understand the plight and challenges so many are faced with right now. It is our hope that your loved ones are safe and sound. Time and effort will restore the rest that has been lost. It is difficult to see one's known life disappear in a matter of hours, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel even if you can't see it now. After all, it is the lifestyle one loses temporarily, not one's life. So, we just take it one day at a time.
Regards,
Alicia & Dan

Here is some work we recently completed for a client. All the locks needed new keys. So, the locks were decoded and new keys cut to code. The pull handle had been rechromed and was not fully operational due to plating build-up. We were able to carefully remove the excess chrome in the necessary areas and rethread the hole for the retaining grub screw and now it can be reinstalled and used.

The locks pictured above were for customers of Klasse 356. The work was perfect and the keys work as they should. Very nice work, Dan. More to come!

Here is some work we recently completed for a member. The client wanted the gear shift lock repinned to his original "FE" key. He was also interested in replacing his glove box lock for one in better condition. He has an original GHE key blank which is period correct for this style lock. Now he has OEM and aftermarket key sets for his fully operational locks. Lastly, we high polished the gear shift lock cylinder and lock face. The gear shift lock looks great in his restored shifter base.

Here is a glove box lock for a client overseas. We helped the client broker the purchase of the lock and the NOS "GZ" key blank. After the acquisition, we repinned to his Kardex code. We were able to clean and polish the lock parts to improve the appearance and remove the rust. The key blank was also heavily rusted. Unfortunately, the nickel plating could not be saved on one face of the key, but the key is no longer rusty and now the client has an original key plus spare.

Here are some before and after pictures of the work performed.

We've been seeing more work lately for early 356. This is for a client that needed keys for his "F" code ignition switch. The key was cut to code on the client's vintage, period correct German Borkey blank. We also lightly serviced the lock housing, small parts, terminals and lubed. It looks almost new and works great.

Dan,

I just received the early T1 ignition switch as you posted the pictures above .

Wow what a great job !!!!

I sent it out on a Tuesday April 17th and received it back just to day . How can you beat that less than two weeks turnaround time, great communicator, great job, and reasonable prices !!

I would use Dan again in a second for any key or lock needs and I would HIGHLY recommend his services to others !!!

Thanks Again Dan !!

This is a gear shift lock that needed a bit of help. We received it disassembled in need of some minor servicing. We also made a new duplicate of his original oem key. Now it's as good as new.
