OK, worked out a packing and shipping scheme for the rare-earth magnets on the 356 sump plates.
Pricing is $18.50 without gaskets, $26.00 with gaskets. Shipping, cont. US adds $6.80, flat-rate USPS package, either option.
You keep your 'sandwich washers', sub the new magnet with the shorter screws. Figure some time 'herding cats' when dealing with the magnet and the sandwich washers.

Re: Sump Plate Upgrade Kit(s)
Is the idea behind this to put a stronger/longer lasting magnet in the slump?

Neil,
The intent is to keep as much swarf out of the lube system as possible. If someone invented an aluminum magnet, I'd put one of those there also.

A very interesting read, Glen! So, theoretically, any aluminum shavings in an engine would be captured by the rare earth magnet if there is any iron content. Hmmmm, what about brass/bronze? Only if they have any iron in them, right?
