Re: new sheet metal parts
Mike,
Are you reproducing these?
They are the reducing elbows at the heater boxes.

Re: new sheet metal parts
sorry we are not producing the heater reducing tube. We would need a CNC tube bender for that and we do not have that machine, but it is on our list to buy

Re: new sheet metal parts
Hello Brad,
That's exactly what I mean.
I have looked through the parts book, cover to cover and cannot find a part number for that piece of metal.
I can't see them listed on the usual vendors website.
Any idea where I might come across these.

Re: new sheet metal parts
Mike , I apologise for hijacking your thread.
I was hoping you would have these.
I may have to look at getting a couple fabricated. It looks fairly basic.
Nothing an exhaust maker couldn't make in stainless I imagine.
Brad that diagram is great, showing dimensions, would you have the other dimensions not shown with the angle of the bend.
Many Thanks, Eric

Re: new sheet metal parts
Eric,
The angle would be just like the heater cans, about 40 degrees.
But why not just buy these elbows from http://www.prs356.co.uk/collections/hea ... alve-elbow attn: Mike Smith.
These are not just bent exhaust tubing -- wall thickness is a not-available 1,00.

Re: new sheet metal parts
Brad,
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have got used to hearing that some parts are no longer being made.
i was informed that this was one of those parts, hence why I decided to get it made.
However after posting and asking for sizes, Doug sent me a link to PRS.
Yes they are reproducing them, and I actually ordered a pair from Kevin at PRS yesterday.
Apparently they are great quality.

Re: new sheet metal parts
The PRS is actually made up of two pieces -- probably can't been seen once installed on the car. Originals were one-piece.
See illustration from 356C Parts Catalog. I didn't do that drawing; someone at Porsche drew it back in 4/64 according to the note at the bottom of catalog page. I added in the arrow and the part number.

Re: new sheet metal parts
Not a very good drawing; doesn't even look like it. Is that the correct piece??

Re: new sheet metal parts
Isn't that piece what is welded in to the body that the reducing elbow slips on to? It certainly needs a piece to go from the main sound-absorbing tube out of the longitudinal area to reach to the reducing elbow. It would be welded to #8 in the diagram. The part number would tell but I have no listing to check.

Re: new sheet metal parts
You may well be correct, Martin
In that case, I do not think that the piece that is under discussion is shown anywhere in the Parts Books

Re: new sheet metal parts
PRS does picture the correct part, not quite an exact copy but very close and I am sure functional.
