Thanks, Carl. It really does help.
Can you tell me if the screen has a hole for the early 14mm pickup or the later 16mm?

Here are some pix and dimensions of two screens, one is from a 68 912, the short aluminum one,the other from a 60 S90 engine which is steel.

Perhaps explanatory:-DaveErickson wrote:Ron, I'd be glad to help, I just don't understand what you're asking for. What is the folded section?Ron LaDow wrote:Geeze! One bit of help? C'mon, you got a screen and a caliper!

See Ron's initial photo of the screen and its flange, showing his caliper measurement of the "folded section", which is the extruded/rolled interior periphery of the flange securing the screen to the flange whereat Ron indicated its caliper height to be about aprox. 0.170".
Am assuming that would be a pertinent dimension when designing a single O-ring sump plate with a screen's shape/retention secured by the flange's folded/rolled section, after trimming the flange's flats to fit the newly designed sump plate.

Re: Screen Dim assistance, please?
Danke to those who have been kind enough to answer.
It's looking like the steel-flange screen 'folds' measure ~.170", while the later aluminum-flange screen folds measure ~.2", then Wil's screen breaks the pattern. Which complicates the design, and which is my problem.
But if you look at the screens (good eye, Tim B.), you'll notice the later screens have a coarser mesh, allowing larger rocks into the pickup; at least I can offer some info back.
And thanks, Wil. Maybe that sketch will help, too.
Added by edit:
BINGO! The variable height means I can and must ignore that, which turns out to simplify the geometry; pretty sure that 'picture' can now go the the computer screen and the machinist.
Thanks, folks! I do appreciate it.

Ron:
I guess I am late to the party. I just measured three aluminum screens I have. All of them have seen better days, and there is quite a bit of variation. Numerous measurements showed .180-.220". One screen even has a corner where the screen material extends below the flange, and it measures out at .245" at that point.

Re: Screen Dim assistance, please?
Wow!
Really appreciate the help; I got dims from ~.15" all the way to Dave's .245". That means my first scheme is out the window and now I see the screen 'sides' are no vertical, so my second scheme is dead.
Oh, well, that drawing board needs use....
