Sump Plates with Drain Plugs

This (formerly) Mainely product is in high demand; I have 6 or 8 people on the waiting list. Unfortunately, it was also one of the products with zero inventory when Precision Mattters bought Mainely, and there also was no documentation for manufacture.
The guy who runs Precision Matters therefore generated precision drawings which then went to a supplier who delivers precision parts. Unfortunately, some incorrect dimensions were specified in a precise manner on those precision drawings. So we now have an entire run of parts which are precisely wrong.
Enough; I'll be working with the supplier to see how quickly he can deliver new parts...

As an engineer who has definitely been there, done that, this certainly brought me a laugh. Very well done in being honest about root cause-- everyone else just blames the supplier (clearly the machine shop should have known better than to trust my dimensions...)!

Bummer Ron. Just take it out of his paycheck :) . When I started my engineering career as a jr. designer I cut my teeth on the old way of making drawings(pre-CAD). Every drawing that was finished(I thought) went to a "checker", a very experienced designer of that product line. Most drawings came back with red marks with dimensions, tolerances, etc. that needed to be fixed. Obviously the checker is not going to catch everything, but it did help. I don't know what the equivalent of a CAD checker is. Not as easy as a spell checker.

Anyway, thanks for trying to keep the Mainely product line available.

I bought a sump cover from them a year or so ago. It fit fine. Maybe he gave you an old revision.

He got a severe warning!
I said: "Myself, you'd better be more careful.." and went from there.

The sump plate with drain plug is there. It's the next item down from the sump plate w/o plug on his list of products.

"Call Ron, he always answers."
Pretty much. That's the way I get the money to pay my suppliers.
