Craig Richter - How To Make An Old Porsche Fly - Republished

#1 Post by Peter Kroezen »

Craig Richter's 356/912 High Performance Guide is getting expensive, IF you can get hold of an original 1983 book.

The news is that in cooperation with Craig a re-publication of his book will be coming soon. Almost 200 pages packed with insider secrets for hopping up your air cooled Porsche 356 or VW, written by a two-time national record holder. This time as a digital download to keep the cost down (target price will be under $10). Estimated date for publication: end of April 2015.

People interested in a digital copy can get a notification email as soon as it is available - see http://vintagetechinfo.com

It will be fun to have this publication. I hope the actual download will be of better print quality than the trailer (mostly the index) provided as a sample. Appears as a copy of a copy of a copy, etc.

Craig,
Lottsa water under the bridge since then; gonna add updates?
And I'd suggest a print version for us old farts who like to see books on shelves and others who don't want to print and bind their own copy.

For some of the older bound volumes such as Pellow's with crumbling binding, I have carefully disengaged the pages, hole stamped and put into binders. Much better for reference during rebuilds, etc. as you don't have to put a weight on the book so the book won't close and lose your place.

I have a nice copy of the original version, but if Craig's book comes out in "soft copy" format, would print out and put in a 3-ring binder.

Hi Ron,
Nice to see you at the Phoenix Club last month. "Lottsa water under the bridge" for sure. My 72nd birthday is coming soon, and when we are home in SoCal, I just cruise around in Speedy, enjoying our "globally warmed" winters. I've tried to get my buddy Jack to add some updates, but he poo-poos the idea, claiming he and Kerry are just too busy keeping his many customers up and running. I think he just doesn't like to type...
One chapter I always meant to expand on is Weber carbs. Lots to add here. I'll try to get around to it soon, probably a forum posting.
Peter K. is a good guy, with strong motive of getting old out-of-print technical info available to the public again. The Ebay prices of such stuff are getting silly! Here's hoping the newer guys enjoy the digital read...
Best Regards to all,
Craig

Craig, don't know how deep you would go into Webers, but don't forget Dellortos which work as well, if not better than Webers.

I have an original paper copy of Craig's book (autographed, no less) that I've read and re-read. Great stuff! I just got my download version so I have it at my side at all times. Don't miss the opportunity to get this book; even if you have no intention of making your old Porsche Fly, it's great reading!
