519 single mount trans nose

#1 Post by Vic Skirmants »

I am working on a local Michigan-produced source for the 519 single mount nose. Patterns are paid for, casting has begun, as well as machining of the prototype. Final price has not been established. Will have to get all the bills together and see where we are. Somebody in Europe has them for 1200 Euros each. I hope I can stay well below $1000.
So many pre-As had their original transmissions scrapped, that there is a serious shortage of the correct type.
With the correct nose and a period VW case and minor machining, a proper 519 can now be built.

That's great Vic. Are the intermediate plates on the 519s interchangeable with later ones, or are those pretty easy to make too?

The 519 intermediate plate is unique to those split-case transmissions. It would not be terribly difficult to make new ones.

Vic, Thanks for making those 519 single mount nose pieces available for us. I know how hard it is to find good 519 parts as I have had to look for the main shaft for mine and it was a true search but finally found one and a person here in Oregon that could rebuild it . I hope I never need a nose cone for mine but thanks again for going through all the time and expense have them made available.

Have a Great 2015 year

George

I picked up the reverse shafts yesterday.
Price for a nose with shaft is $1000.
Nose only, for those who have a dual-mount 519 nose and can use your reverse shaft, $950.
