Hello Bob. I just walked in the door returned from a month in Asia with my kids [attention list absolutely visit Kuala Lumpur, really wonderful. foodie paradise]. Could you post a photo of what you are referring to? I think your wheel might have been modified in some way. LL used original VDM hubs and are identical to the stock wheel. You should install the spring and split ring as original to put pressure on the inner race of the steering column bearing. Our wheel hub is an exact copy of the original in all dimension +/- .001 inches, Jeffrey

Jeffery, Here you go, both wheels side by side. The wood wheel's shaft is smooth to the end where the other has the spring with it's stopper and split-ring installed in the groove. Let me know, Bob

Bob, could you include a larger photo please? This one's small and difficult to review.
Thanks!

For those who would like a larger photo, PM me and I'll send it. I made the mistake of taking this picture at 16 MP which limits the methods that I can reduce it to get it on the Forum.

Bob
I looked at your and Adam's pictures and compared it to what I have on spare wheels. What I think is that Jeff did not tell you to transfer your cancel ring, spring retainer, and spring to his wheel. My VDM C2, and VDM T6 plastic wheels do not have groves on the spline shaft. Beyond that, the shaft looks just like my wheels.

Thanks Roy and Adam. I did transfer the cancel ring but without the groove I didn't think the spring and retainer would remain on the shaft, but I'll try putting them on without the clip and installing the wheel in that manner. I should mention that the wheel works well without the spring but I do want to keep it as close to how it came from the factory.

And I feel compiled to mention that when I naively ordered one of his other wheels for $1800 and it didn't fit that Jeffrey was very difficult to deal with, elusive, didn't help and wouldn't honour a return or refund.

Every thing is in it's place and it works wonderfully. I've had several compliments on it.

What do you mean by a "groove" and a "clip"?

Jim,
Wow, my memory is not what it used to be and I'll be damned if I can remember the sequence of swapping out the old wheel. I hardly remember what I did yesterday much less 6 months ago. If it dawns on me you'll be the first to know.
