Ron; when you first produced these, you sent me one gratis to examine and comment on. I thought it was a good design, but never needed to install it. Carried it in my race spares box ever since.
Yesterday I installed it; it's even easier than I imagined! Installing the other 7 today. It's almost fun.
Congratulations on such a great product!

Thanks, Vic. I'm real pleased with those.
A couple of people have mentioned that during a rebuild, they install them after the heads are in place; saves the need for that third hand and there is no doubt that the head is square and 'centered' with the pushrod tubes out.
The smooth bores means no place for swarf to hide, either.

One little detail. If installing with the aluminum rocker stands in place, #1 and #4 exhaust can not be slid in due to interference with the stand. I used a rotary rasp in a drill to clearance the stand, rather than pull the whole thing; I had already installed #3 exhaust and intake, as well as #4 intake. Still love the product.

Vic,
Hadn't heard of that, but maybe the part can be moded to make it work better.
Did you get it past the head bore and then find you couldn't get it in the case bore?
Or was it just too close to the head bore diameter to even get it started?
Feedback always appreciated.

Got past the head bore. When at the case, was miss-aligned by 1/4" due to contact at the stand.
Don't see what could be modified on the tube.

Vic, I thought you fixed those type problems with a big hammer! :P

Ron, great product!

To all, the German made tubes that were advertised in our classifieds are not good, they don't fit correctly. Don't be sucked in by the low price. Buy American!

Vic,
I'll send you a mod'd tube to try on the next engine you have at that stage to see if it works.
Cliff,
The first batch was sourced from China and the quality was such that nearly half were rejects. Now, I gotta mention that anyone who thinks the Chinese are incapable of quality work never saw the Wall, but you get what you pay for.
Anyhow, the last couple of batches have been "imported" from Illinois and New Hampshire. And the low reject rate (like zero) is one reason I was able to knock the price down.

Will these work on a 914 engine?

I really know near zero concerning T-4 engines, but AFAIK, the 616 pushrod tubes are peculiar to the 616 engine, so I strongly doubt it.

I believe the early non-extended pushrods, through the late 50's were the same as 36hp VW. The extended pushrods were a Lukes & Shorman idea that the factory adopted to minimize oil starvation when cornering. Anyway, I would imagine that Ron's pushrods would also work on 36hp VW motors.

Pushrods or pushrod tubes?
The Porsche 356 studs that support the cylinders are significantly shorter than those of the 36hp VW motor.
I'm not sure the tubes would work on the VW.

Oops. Meant pushrod tubes. Pretty sure the 36hp tubes are the same length.

Can confirm that, in fact Porsche used 36hp pushrods tubes on industrial engines,at least the one I picked up.

Hi CJ
what German tubes are you referring to? for a while the gold plated tubes that were sold had storage issues since the inside of the tubes were not plated. now most tubes are stainless so corrosion is not a problem. the current part no is PCG 105 231 00 previous tubes had 616 part nos and i think both extended tubes and 36 style used that no whether plated clear or gold. Maybe someone will tell us when they became extended i would think definitely by the 912 also why do the tube have a 616 rather than a 539 part no ? Brad
