Hi Paul / everyone. Your don't fix it assertion works fine from a singular perspective. You have not been privy to the years of complaints I have fielded(far more than than the posts in this thread) over the old way the photos displayed. People did not like having to open individual windows and then close them again. If I had a dollar for every time I have heard "on other websites...."
You guys need to be cognizant of the fact that me and the other Trustees are often in an impossible conundrum, particularly with the website. Members "A,B,& C" complain about an aspect and if we do not do anything to change it we are not meeting the needs of membership, and as illustrated in this thread we do make a change and members "D,E & F" like it the way it was before and we are trying to pull the rug out. At a recent open meeting we we fielded complaints about the website for a solid 15 minutes and were ultimately told that we should have "the best" website and that is what several in attendance wanted. Great, what does that mean and how much will it cost? We are trying to have a site that appeals to the majority of the membership without also breaking the bank.

I recognize there are some size/res issues in the display now and will look into having this improved. This is also illustrative of the fact that website function is a tangled web. What may be perceived as simple fix often affects other functions that then must be addressed.

Curt

Curt,

Totally understand. I employ 20 people and whenever we make changes it feels like 10 people are happy and 10 are upset. It's a no-win situation because the people who are now happy are thinking "what took you so long" while the other ten are thinking "How could you do this! If it isn't broken, don't fix it"....

Curt - I understand the challenges completely, just offering some feedback. Hopefully it was constructive.

Cheers,
Bruce

Could you run a vote in the classifieds? Then the people that this affects could weigh in. In the past through various generations of our website I never had any thoughts about the pictures, it was functional. I am surprised that some were complaining.

In this club someone is ALWAYS complaining, in fact someone will probably complain about me saying they are complaining....

One extra detail - photos put in in portrait mode seem to get cropped to landscape mode in order to fit into the slideshow, so not only are they being downsampled in resolution, they're being clipped top and bottom. Not good.

Thank you very much. Now if I could nit-pick very gently, it seems to be about 25% enlargement, wasn't it a lot more before? Any amount is appreciated.

Has the enlargement function been altered again? For example Curt, your ad for brake parts, when you click on the picture, it comes out maybe 10% smaller. It seems to be random now as to which ones get bigger and which get smaller.

I think this is an I phone camera deal. I held the phone sideways when I took the photo and it is croppped in the original photo but you can see all the parts in the enlargement.
We are not finished working on modifications.

Hi Folks

We have a little more size on the enlargements now. If you noticed the box with the "X" is gone now. To close the enlargement just click outside of the box.
