This probably should be 'off topic' but it affects Forum posts, of mine at least. I was using Photobucket as a way of posting images. PB have now requested $399 annually from such users for 3rd party hosting, even if it is limited. I have erased and cancelled my PB account. Apologies for any missing images in threads, but I will replace some from another hosting site and my own drive. I suspect I am not alone in this.

You don't need to use a hosting site to download pics, you can do it directly from your computer if you have your pictures saved in a "Pictures" directory

Greg,

I download them to this site from anywhere on my computer, not just a picture directory. Once they are downloaded to this site, aren't they on this sites' server from there on out?

Sebastian - yes, you're right, photos or other documents can be downloaded from any directory. I'm presuming that Mervyn stores his photos in Photobucket rather than on his PC, and it's pretty common for folks to use a cloud service to store photos as well. I haven't tried that myself.
Once the photo is downloaded to the 356Talks site, it is stored forever on its server, so even if you delete the original pic on your computer or other storage medium, the downloaded image is still there.
In my estimation, Mervyn's issue with Photobucket trying to make money for their service is not a 356 Registry website issue.
