Hi, is there a reason I cannot post an ad on the Classified site, or is is the usual usual user error on my part.

Maybe your membership has been revoked? After all you didn't disavow the term limits suggestion! :D

Ha - CJ might be on to something ....
Actually, there have been a few glitches with the site migration that was done early in the week. Some people are reporting difficulty in creating classifieds, but others are able to. I posted two test classifieds yesterday without any issues and there are a half dozen since then. Our webmaster would probably like to hear your tale of woe.

Greg, I've passed it on. Also I'm not able to delete old ads. I'm told it is a difficult process. I'm suggesting they delete automatically after three months. We'll see if that can be done.

Still no word on the classifieds. One member reported that it appears to be related to the size of your photo that your trying to include in the ad. Less than one MB seems to work. The web team is looking into this issue and some other issues that are related to the migration to the new cloud-based server provider.
Regarding deleting old classifieds, you can't really delete them as such. You can 'close' a classified and it will no longer be visible to the members. They do close by themselves after a period of time - maybe 3 months - but they go into your archive.
I will all get straightened out in due time.

Jim, I wanted to buy those perfect Rudge wheels you were going to list but I bought some others off of Samba instead. Sorry. :P

Just tried to post the ad again. It comes up with "This site is not available" I have an early Pre - A tank with no sender hole in excellent condition for $1,000. CJ since you have all those thousands left over from, the non Rudge purchase, you should buy it.

Just experimented with posting a picture with a large file size - it would not post. I reduced the picture size to about 300 kb using Paintbrush and the ad posted.

You are correct Greg. I just posted the ad with no picture, and it went through. Thanks.

I am having this same problem, again.

It was working fine for a long while, thanks to some changes the admin did, now it isn't working???

Thanks for any help.

Greg - there have been no other reports that I'm aware of regarding problems posting classifieds. One issue to watch for is the file extension of the image you're trying to post. I've been told that images with a .bmp file extension may not post. Some programs, paintbrush, for example, default to .bmp, but will also save files with the preferred .jpg or .png file extensions.
There is a file size limit for images, but it is really large - 5meg or more. This is way larger than is needed to post a clear picture on the internet or in this case, the classifieds. There has to be some upper limit as we pay for storage space, and this is more than generous. Turning down the resolution a bit on your camera will take a picture that is suitable with a file size that will not have to be resized.
Hope this is helpful ...

Thanks Greg, but if you look at my history, I have posted hundreds of ads. So this is not a new thing I am doing.

All the photos I have ever posted are the same size - I haven't changed anything, it's only in the last few months, with the updates to the registry that the problems have happened.

I GREATLY prefer to take larger photos with high resolution that the buyer can get a good idea of condition, etc. without having to email or repost photos, etc.

If it worked for the last 2 years, why wouldn't it work now, with the exact same size (and in some cases, exact same) photos?

I'm more than happy to link to photos on photobucket, as opposed to having to resize photos every time I have to list them on this site, as opposed to another one.

Greg - according to the webmaster, there have been no changes to the site recently and no other complaints.
I have no other ideas, recommendations or comments on the subject.
Good luck
