Why can't I access the old archives for the old talk list?

The archived 356 Talk list was lost when the server that stored the data died.
A back-up file? Shoulda, woulda, coulda - too late now.

Wow, I can't believe that !!!
That archive was a massive wealth of information. I looked at it dozens of times and found lots of practical stuff and also got perspective on some members current postings.
No reconstructing it from any source?

Sorry, no source from which to reconstruct. A bad and sad loss for sure.

Steve

All is not lost, I have backups of all the files, the program used to compile the files years ago is ancient and it is a challenge to get the .asp files into a modern format to put up on the current server, it's not impossible, just challenging so it will take a while longer.

That's great news Joe. I hope they can be saved. I especially liked the way you could do a search and find a thread on a particular subject and open an email, read it, and have the others sitting there both before and after it as unread. No need to use the Back Button.
Probably wishful thinking to hope that feature remains eh? Heck it might be wishful thinking to hope that someone with enough tech experience (and the cajones') to make an attempt at working the archive into our new format. Sadly, computer skills are a weak point with me.
I'll bet if you put out the call, someone just may tackle it. (?)
Thanks for the work thus far. Great forethought to take the iniative to back it up.

Suggest contacting a company specializes in data recovery. If the hard drive failed, the data can still be recovered. It is not cheap, but may be the most cost effective way to recover the information
