No problem Greg. Maybe I'll see it at the classic if you make it. If not, my offer still stands, anytime you're down this way give me a call.

Hey Greg, been following the thread and I think your car is stunning...I appreciate the craftsmanship and thought your are putting into it. Better yet you are building the car for your use and not worrying about the worship stuff.

I bet it has a pretty good kick from that motor. Back in the day my first race car in E production SCCA was a 914. Extra gear & better balanced from the mid engine. Could not keep up with 356's so naturally I went 356'n on the track. Back then the GCR didn't allow you to use any of the better stuff the type IV guys had like the roller rockers and such. Too bad as I bet racing 'history' would have changed as, imho, the type IV powered cars would have kicked a little butt. OK Vic...flame suit on :-)

Nice work Greg. Have fun driving.
George

Thanks for the kind words...
Yes it definitely has some kick when the pedal hits wood. It's a mild mannered driver up until about 3500 rpm, then it just goes nuts.

Here's a shot of the dyno sheet. Keep in mind this was on a chassis dyno, so that's power at the wheels, not the flywheel.

My buddy Steve says "it's just barely street-able" which really, is what I was looking for. I wanted to have a hot rod "Outlaw" 356 built for me, and as stated not for the purists.

Now that I have that out of my system I'm going to enjoy it for awhile before jumping into a "correct" restoration on something else.

Yep, breather. Lots of crankcase pressure with the bore (94mm) and stroke (84mm) in the engine.

On another note. I got the car polished out this week. Looks a lot better now.
Front bumper is off for some body and paint work. The passenger front fender and rocker under the drivers door are going to get some attention as well.

Even hit the chrome around the windows to clean them up a bit as well...

What did you do to get your car that low? Did you notch the beam?

Greg- The power output is impressive. I figure around 205 at the crank. That's 90hp per liter which is very stout for the street. That's going to be fun!

Pertaining to the suspension, that's a set of my own dropped spindles on the front and one outer spline down in the rear. I did extend and notch the spring plates to retain travel and get correct toe as well.

Per the HP, I never know if it's 15% or 20% loss through the gearbox, and arguing with anyone that thinks it's one way or the other never works, so I just go with the chassis dyno "to the street" numbers and if asked how much at the crank, "over 200hp" is good enough. BIG thanks to Kris @ Paradise Motorsports for the power. He told me he could dial in a set of 48 IDA's with 42 venturis and make it street-able for "daily driving" and he did! .

It's been plenty of fun so far. Both in drive-ability and the reactions from people.

Hey Charlie, what is the story on that bus? I have never seen a canvas top like that before? Homemade? Dealer option?

Thanks,

Finally got my NEW windsheild from Richard Tankell (Prosource glass) and installed it. Which meant pulling the dash out .....again.

Old glass after a detailing "accident" in May

New glass in and waiting on the dash.

I also cleaned up the engine compartment a bit more.
