As title says, does anyone make a 6 volt rev limiter?

Conrad I don't know anyone that makes a 6v rev limiter. Have you thought about using a rev limiting distributor rotor?

Never heard of that. Please enlighten me!

Your problem is in finding a rev limiting rotor for a cast iron distributor. For a 009 it is not a problem, By the way rotors are not voltage dependent.

David are you sure the rev limiting rotors won't fit? The link says it fits the Bosch 010, & 019 distributors I'm pretty sure they are cast iron distributors. I put one from a 911 in my 1966 912 years ago and it had the cast iron distributor. It would be worth measuring the rotor shaft to check for fit. Mike

Agrees with my experience with 914 engine. Not enough room under distributor cap.

If you really want a rev limiter, then you might try adding a small 6v battery in series with the 6v supply. You should check with Petronics or other supplier to see if that will work. (The current draw of a rev limiter is small and the trigger voltage from the coil is much higher.)

Some 123 distributors have a soft rev limiter.
Check 123ignition.nl
I have one in my 6V 356, thanks for the tip, Cliff.

I still have one I made in about 72. It worked by transferring the spark 90 degrees, would then miss terribly. It limited to about 2500 rpm. I had fun sneaking it into a couple of my college buddie’s VWs. I can’t believe I still have it.

Just heard from 123distributor.....they do not have anything to add the rev-limiting button to a 356 with 914 engine. No distributor cap or distributor. Conrad

I believe their distributor can have a built in electronic version instead of the centrifugal one from years ago.

Conrad, I just realized that there is a rev limiting rotor for your car when I saw that you are running a 914 engine. Do a search for Porsche 914 rev limiting rotor. Remember rotors are not voltage specific. This only applies to 914 type distributors of course.
