Period correct sport seat options, T6 356C

#1 Post by Chris Placco »

This has been discussed before but I'm still confused by the opposing opinions about the various brands of repro seats found on the various bulletin boards.

I'm looking for reclining seats that mate up easily with the existing brackets, or those that require available, accurate new brackets which need to fit properly. I'm hoping for a true "bolt in" solution. I'd prefer to select materials myself, though good "off the shelf" black vinyl or leather might also be satisfactory.

If anyone has suggestions and first hand experience with GTS Classic and other popular choices let me know? Thanks much, I appreciate feedback.

Chris

Conrad I've had a couple different style Recaro's in my C coupe. Currently I have a set of Ideal S seats in my car. I'm using Honda seat slides with 1/2" aluminum bar stock to adapt.

The "period correct" sport seats for late B and C cars would be the GT type speedster seat as Porsche provided on the GT (factory lightweight aluminum doors and hood) cars of the period. The term sport seat wasn't even in general use at the time. Probably got its start when seat makers began supplying different non factory seats for the general sports car population in late 60's and early 70's. Adaptors were used to mate with Porsche, BMW, etc.,

GTS Classic in Texas? If you want an honest report, you'd best contact me personally. If one cannot be "nice" on this forum, then best to say nothing at all.

As far as I know the only period correct seat is the GT -- subtly different from a Speedster. In my C cab.
