Full body wiring harness options

#1 Post by Ralph Sikes »

Forgive me if this has been beat to death. I've searched the Outlaw forum and can't find options so feel free to point me elsewhere!

I'm a newbie and just purchased a 356B T6. Drive line and body are great, interior and wiring are a nightmare! I'd like to rewire with a more modern harness, at least a modern fuse panel. Just curious if someone has found an interesting alternative? I'm thinking I'll wind up using YNZ's harness and modify it for my needs and change to a modern fuse block? Converting to 12v system using original gauges and wiper motor with 12v - 6v step down.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

You can use the articles that appeared in the Registry's magazine.
The first article you can find is in the Volume 38 #1 May june 2014. All the electrical system is explained in these articles.
The fuse block by Refuze uses modern ATO fuses.
You can read all the magazines by clicking the Magazine tab.

If you choose to use YNZ's, just tell them exactly what you need and they will make you a harness to that spec.

I was faced with this what to do re-wiring problem and It seemed to me that although you can obtain good repro looms it was the vague Porsche colours that was off putting. I mean yellow with beige tracer, yellow with brown tracer and sorting this out in a garage with not too good lighting especially when you are working under the dash meant re-wiring was something I was not looking forward to. I had earlier broken a MGB for the engine and box to go into a little rod I built and had carefully removed the wiring loom from that car without chopping up any wires. So I just used all of that. European colour codes are so much easier to troubleshoot plus I used all new relays and a modern tab type fuse box. Also I didn't want any dash board switches and moved them all to between the seats (little bucket seats) and with this wiring I was able to accommodate this. Wiring is fun, just take your time and double check continuity and feeds.
