As you are aware I had a set of fronts for sale for quite some time, your friend in Sweden took them just before you.

I purchased them of a registry member after placing an add, originally I was going to use them myself however changed direction as the restoration progressed.

I found it very difficult to find T6 bars, other models no problem but T6 seemed to be scarce.

My advise would be to place a wanted add, there really has not been anything that I needed that another member has not had sitting in a corner and is willing to sell rather than gathering dust.

Those nerf bars on amazon will not fit a T6.

They need to pass under the bumpers and there would not be enough clearance.

Years ago (1978) with my first T6 I did use a predecessor of these Nerf bars with no front bumper, Eric. The attachment bars fit through the lower valance in place of the bumper attachment bars. Not to say these will fit without trying, though. But since this is for an outlaw there is likely a way to do it.

Jeff, I did'nt explain it very well

The curved part at the bottom of the bars does not have enough clearance to clear the lower part of the valance as you mention.

T6 bars have the part that passes through the bumper holes higher like in this picture.

Thanks Eric. And I could have elaborated by suggesting that a fabricator could likely reposition where the attachment bar joins the nerf (higher). Anyway maybe all this will promote more ideas from someone else to solve Juha’s problem.

Thanks for all comments. I probably end up making them so
they fit properly. I'm not very good at fabrication, more in
repairing existing things.

As recommended, I put a Wanted ad in 356reg classifieds and
got some response. But how can the Nerf Bars that fit T6 be
identified? I know the early rear bars have a kink in the mounting
flat bars.
But how many different are there?

Juha, there is going to be a critical minimum length between the bottom of the mounting flat bars to the top of the Nerf tubes that pass under the front valence. I don't know that length. Perhaps Eric can help here since he has recent experience with this.

But you can make a vertical measurement on your car from the bottom edge of the hole in the valance where the mounting flat bars go through to their mounting points to lowest point of the valance. Add some amount for adjustment clearance and that would be the length (space) you would measure for on any Nerf bar you are considering. A quick measurement on my car indicates about 81/2 - 9 inches (21.5 - 23 cm ?)

I took some measurements from my car, see enclosed.
Front the nerf bar bottom has to be about 150mm to clear the valance.
Rear the dimension is 110mm. Rear the reflector will be behind the
nerf bar. It's possible that the reflectors are not correctly located?
Apologize for the not very precise explanation.

Does your front measurement take into account the battery box being below the bottom edge of the front valance?

The lowest point of my floor pan is the battery spare tire box is at least 2 inches - 5.1cm - lower than the point you show as 150. Or another way to say it is my measurement taking into account the lowest point of the battery /spare tire box would be about 155cm.

This is only important if the bottom of the Nerf bar extends back under the car far enough to interfere with the battery / spare tire box. Otherwise I think our measurements are similar.

Hi Jeffrey,
My 356 sit so low that I don't want the nerf bars to turn under the car.
Still a bit puzzled about the rear, haven't yet looked at photos, should the
reflectors be straight under bumber mounting bracket hole in valance?
My valance is modified, the exhaust openings has been closed so the bottom
of valance is straight.

If not having the bottom of Nerf bars turn under the car is fine with you, then you should be able to use these and just cut off the portion of the bottom of the bars to get the necessary clearance you need.

I'm not sure I understand your question about the rear reflectors, but yes, the rear reflectors that mount under the bumper should be straight with the longest sides parallel on top with the bumper and the road on the bottom.
