I hope the car is all you hope it is. So many guys have bought from websites across the pond only to get the beast back home and find it is just a total POS. Although your machine does look decidedly fine it's only a few pounds to jump on a jumbo and see the thing yourself. A weekend in the States - nice, take the partner, do some shopping, but do check out the car before you hand over the cash, bondo can cover a multitude of sins.

Nick,

I would almost swear that I saw this car in the parking lot of Central Market this morning in Houston, TX.
Same color, same lights but I think different rear view mirrors. Paper plates and A/B wheels. Licence plate
frame was from Victory Motors, Houston, TX. Could be a cousin of the car you have ordered.

The car is sound and has been checked. This post is more about finding more about it's history. We have the first 30 or so years and are keen to find more history of the car and the outlaw build.

Hi Nick , welcome to the 356 Registry !

I have a couple of 356s that I rotate between Cheshire and London W14 , today its a 356C , next week will be a pre A , so maybe we can get together some time , I only occasionally do the London events , last one was the John Fitzpatrick talk at the Knightsbridge Porsche Design shop.

Anyway , back to your Outlaw , be aware that the HMRC import duty is either 5% or 20% , to get the 5% the car has to be un-modified . The Duty is based on total of what you paid for the car plus your shipping cost , so can be a chunky number !

European collectibles car I think. https://www.europeancollectibles.com/ve ... 56sc-coupe More history in the ad than most of us have on our cars.

Update: Safely arrived in the UK, soon to be let loose on the more reserved Porsche owners.

Hi Harry,

the car worked out really good. It puts a big smile on our faces every time we take her out in London and on longer trips.

The "B" suffix plates would be correct for 1964 would they not? I ask because my 63B from many years ago was BMM935A. Cool that you could get correct MY plates.

It was a lot of paperwork but worth it to get the correct date related plate.

I have always been curious about the UK number plate, and custom number plate system, and how obscure the whole thing is, compared to the rest of the developed world. Here in Oz if you want a custom plate, and no one else has it, just order it, if someone does, buy it off them. Otherwise it is an off the shelf issue.
It is amazing that the country that could not, in the end, crack the enigma code, 80 years ago, but could not only come up with this number plate system, but then actually get everyone to understand it!
Well done to them.

According to Wikipedia Britain did crack the code, maybe in preparation for explaining their number plate system.
