Louvers

Hey guys, I am not sure spelled the word right.
My question is.. louvers on the engine lid ... (like the old 58/59 GT had, was it
a.) to force more air in to the motor department (but than I woud have "turned them around" - so I guess the answer is NO)
b.) to force a better air circulation (*warm air getting easier out of the engine area) or
c.) to get cooler air (then the motor department air) to the inlet the carbs? (Then it only would make sense when using open carbs (no filters?)

Beside the design, does it make sense to install them to a slightly tuned up engine?

cheers from a curious guy with a big lack of knowledge

aircooled cheers from Holland (driven my brake drum car today with nice weather and made some drone video' s)

c.) cooler air to the carbs. The Carreras had cold-air boxes under the lid for just that purpose.
