Fuchs on a 356b question...

I recently acquired a set of Fuchs wheels. They are 7x15 and 8x15 wheels from a 911. I'd really like to shod my 62' 356b with these wheels if possible. I'm hoping someone with knowledge of fitment can lead me down the road to success.

Hmm - those are wide wheels and would require an adapter to go from wide 5 to 911 pattern, which would push the wheel further toward the outside. I assume you're trying to keep everything inside the stock bodywork?
I've never tried it so can't say it's not possible, but I don't think it's possible.

My preference is to not have any body mods, but I'm
open to any suggestions that provide a valid fix.

Depending on the wheel offset, it seems like the wheel is not going to be the problem, it's the tire. I think you would have to look at the smallest width tire that would fit on those rims, then see if that fits. It's going to be even more complicated in the front where you will need to ensure the wheel is not hitting the inner fender. I used wheel extenders (spacers) to accomplish that but you will have one more variable to contend with the I did. That said, I think it looks better with the wider wheels and extenders.

The rear is pretty tight for a 6", the offset has to be just right. The front has plenty of room at least for going straight. I do not think those rims are reasonable to try to put on your car, between being too wide, and the incorrect bolt circle.

Thanks so much for the input. After measuring and much consideration regarding body mods I've opted out with attempting to put these wheels on the car. I like the Fuchs look, perhaps I'll seek another option. I would appreciate any and all thoughts or suggestions.

C disk brakes and narrower Fuchs is a non-invasive but expensive way to do it, actually pretty easy.

I had two pairs of 6 x 16 Fuchs that came off a couple of 911s I used to own. It was the thing to put the original rear 7 x 16s on the front and find some Turbo 9 x 16s or even 8 x 16s for the rear, the Carreras always looked better with big boots on them. So when it came to 356 ownership I thought the old 6 x 16 Fuchs would be a neat swap. When I got my car/project which was little more of a shell and it had no brakes so I fitted early 944 front discs and so got the right stud pattern - 5 on 130 and fitted the rear with all new VW stuff with aftermarket drums which also had the 5 on 130 PCD. So the Fuchs bolted straight on with no caliper clearance problems but the rear shock is quite near to the inner rim, not touching but near. For tyres I'm running Pirelli 195.45 x 16s.

I have the 6x16 Fuchs (#43) to install on 63 Coupe with C disc brakes. Hope they fit.

Don - How bad do you want those 8 inchers on the rear? If you're willing to modify the rear fenders, it'd probably look something like this. You'll also have to modify the bumper, provided you're using one.
