Frenching? is that something Gallic

#1 Post by Graham Kerr »

I have to laugh sometimes, having read Hot Rod magazine since the 60's and having been engrossed in American motorsport (and UK motoring activities of course) I am fully conversant with all the various customising terminology which has been in use over the years, so when I tell people my taillights and licence plate is 'frenched' I have to spend the next half hour or so trawling back into the history of American auto customs. Still it's nice to offer a little piece of auto information to interested parties. And I don't even try to explain about blue dots!

Ooo Eeee I see your car and think Dodge Deora. Weird connection I know, but awesome bodywork. Shades of Winfield and Westergard, reputedly the first guy to French a headlight. I really wanted to chop my roof and fit suicide doors but the value of these things was so much on the rise I wimped out and put the torch away.
