all;
anybody know why the 356A type muffler had the outlet ports moved closer together for the B/C/912 ?
...or is there more to it than just this detail ?
inquiring minds want to know.
TIA
jerry

Just as a guess maybe the longer S-pipes quiet it down a bit more. Last summer I drove my B for several days without the S-pipes, and it was quite noisy. It is hard to believe how much difference the pipes make.

that may be... I'm wondering if the longer length plays into the performance. some say the A muffler performs better on the dyno.
now it dawns on me that this could have been posted on the main forum as it's not actually an outlaw question :?

The longer S pipes are a lot easier to fit.
The two 90° bends on the early muffler made it difficult to assemble into the funnels.
I doubt that was the reason.
Stubbornness usually fails to resolve that quickly.
