It is that close with a single spacer, or was that two stacked? As a funny comparison I worked on a van converted for wheelchair use and the sliding doors were modified in almost exactly the same way. Yours looks much better, however. Beautiful.

Love the accent on down under, and, really nice work going on down there, even if all the welds are installed upside down.

Wish my project were as well structured, sorted out, and pressed to its original surfacings. Love all that metal shining straight and smooth as it should be. Proud of our accomplishments are we? Good on you for what you have accomplished. And, all for the restoration of a marque that keeps us in touch with our desire to be behind the wheel of a genuinely unique machine.

Is it still cost effective vs Emory build? Looks like a key you have a LOT of hours invested! It IS beautiful though. Well done!!!!

Is it cost effective vs an Emory Outlaw?

I think we are comparing apples with oranges for several reasons:
-Yes my car will look similar to an Emory Outlaw
-But Rod's cars have 911 suspension, gear box and a 4 cylinder 911 motor. Plus annular brakes. All expensive items which my car won't have.
-Mine is all 356 apart from having 911 rack & pinion steering.
-Another big factor in my build is I live in New Zealand. So you need to consider that every NZ dollar gets you about .67 - .70 cents $USD. Then any item I import from the USA is subject to another 15% good & services tax.
-On top of all this I have two very good friends who are being very kind with their time and labour rates.

In summary my car is more 356, Rod's cars are something between a 356 and a 911 performance wise, but look like a 356!

Hope that helps, for the record if I could have afforded an Emory Outlaw I would have gone that way for sure!

Running a John Willhoit 2132cc engine, 741 gearbox, 911 rack & piƱon steering. 944 seats repurposed.
