Hey there,
This is one of my first posts on here and it certainly won't be my last. I am a rookie 356 owner but have had over 50 early air cooled VWs since I got into the hobby some 25 yrs ago.
I have a disassembled 1965 356 SC with supposedly matching motor/trans. I got a spare 1967 912 motor which just needs to be refreshed. I was thinking of upgrading this motor with some period performance parts and run Fuchs wheels. I have 4 of them in a 15x6 size. My question is will they fit and also, what is a good tire size to run on these if they do fit.
Thanks in advance for your worldly wisdom.

Hi Terry,
Hopefully someone reached out to you privately to help on this. If not: I have a '64 C with replica fuchs in 6" width front and rear. They are currently shod with Michelin XWX's in 185/70VR15.
The tires are super cool with a neat tread pattern. I literally get questions on them from folks all the time "Where did you get Michelins for this car!?"
You can get these tires from Coker Tire and they are PRICEY.
Hope that helps in some way.

Can those tires still be purchased?

a 195/65-15 will fit (with the right wheel offset) and be nearly identical diameter to the original tires and put a little more rubber contact patch on the road. I'm using that size on a 5.5" 944 wheel and like it a lot. the cost was about $85 ea. with a $70 manufacturer's rebate on four Bridgestones.

Conrad: if you're talking about the Michelins, Coker still has them listed on their site. My front tires are worn from a poor alignment and I need to replace them. It's cheaper to get 4 new Vredesteins than 2 new XWXs. $350 a tire is a lot of bones.

For XWX tires, Longstone Tyre in the UK surely is cheaper.
Edit: For my own edification, I just checked their website. The price is $329 with free delivery to the US and no tax.
Coker charges $53 to ship one tire to me in Santa Monica.

How about Michelin Pilot Exaulta in 205/50 16 to go on 16 x 6 Fuchs?

Correction...205/55 16 tires...not 50 series!
