So I see this ad for an outlaw for sale that look suspiciously like a highly touted '65 outlaw project we watched come together a few years ago: http://www.autotraderclassics.com/class ... Id=2194100
There are subtle differences like wheels, exhaust and licensing, that could all have been changed on the '65 to look like the '64 for sale, but the one item that is least likely to change is the mirrors, one having traditional pedestal mirrors and the other having aerodynamic style mirrors. Go here and scroll down to March 2013 for what appears to be this car for sale, and scroll down to January 2011 for the earlier outlaw project: http://hamiltonclassics.com/home/before-and-after/#!. A nice look either way!

Re: Outlaw Clone
That does look like the car from N. Dakota. What happened to the matching BMW Boxer cafe bike? Now for sale in CA with a Maryland tag????? He gave the impression that he would never part with that car.

Re: Outlaw Clone
I think they are different cars. One listed as a '64, one a '65. Also, the steering wheel and dash switches are different. See the photos from Shane's Oct 15, 2010 posting: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16614&start=240. Also, the stitching on Shane's seats are in a contrasting color - not so in the one for sale.

Re: Outlaw Clone
Mark,
You are correct in that it is a different car. Shane's is a Karmann built 1965 chassis 222063. I remember that because mine is 222053.
These two cars are too close to be a coincidence; it's obvious someone was paying a lot of attention to Shane's build. Is it flattering or just kinda creepy that someone would pay tribute to another person's Outlaw?

That would explain how they were able to make the second car so similar to Shane's.C J Murray wrote:That is the same restoration shop for both cars.

Re: Outlaw Clone
It does make the shop look lame though. It is just a total lack of imagination. An outlaw should be at least a little different from the last one. How about at least a color change? Even a stripe color change would help. Boring!!! If all that was Shane's design I bet he is not happy with the shop.Emil Wojcik wrote:That would explain how they were able to make the second car so similar to Shane's.
