Need Help With Tires

#1 Post by Conrad Carter »

I am changing to 6 x 16 Fuchs wheels on my 1963. Currently have 175/70R15 front and 185 rear Vred Sprint Classic Radials. Looking for performance 16" tires. I would like to do some auto crossing and High Performance Driver Schools. Currently tire fit is close and tight so cannot go wider. Anyone have any experierence with this?

Conrad.
I am running 195/65 15 on my 65 and it will run a 205/60 with no problem. Rims are 5.5x15 steel or 6x15 alloy.
Clearance is ~ 5mm.
Possibly the fenders are too flat sided.
Depending on the age of the paint you can take a baseball bat and place it between the fender and tire and roll it front to back.
It's best to loosen the bumper where it mounts to the fender first.
Works on racers but !!
