Drilled outside door handles

#1 Post by Bil Brown »

I saw a car at RennV with late door handles that were drilled with 4-5 holes for lightening, the look was very cool. Does anyone make them? I did`nt get a pic. I was counting a dozen or more 917s and prolly 20 versions of early 4 cyl & 8 cyl Spyders! It was an epic event!

Probably on Ron Goodman's car. They repaired one of my customer's cars and did the same drilling.

If I'm not mistaken if you go on YouTube, jay Lenos garage, there is a video of Ron Goodman displaying a 356 with the drilled handles you mention.

Eric, you must be referring to Ron Goodman's one and a half hour professional feature film, "Road to Monterey"? A link was posted on Talk by Ron a while back.

Bill,

Have a look at Onassis Porsche, they offer a service to drill the handles and rechrome.

It does look good.

I agree with them that drilling these handles is not a simple task, lots of compound curves and you`d probably have to drill from the top side.....after stripping the chrome ?? I like`m and I want a couple sets. Looks like you send them yours, and they drill them for $150/pr, no price for the re-plating.

I witnessed Ron Goodman drilling his early coupe into the concrete barrier at Rennsport last weekend. Does he offer that service also?

Yes the drilled holes on the door handles do look trick.
I had breakfast on that Saturday of Rennsport at Denny's in Seaside and Ron Goodman and his team here crammed into the first booth.
After they ate he paid the bill and I said hello, enjoyed the U tube video, and wished him luck.
Guess his luck ran out at the guardrail but he looked good and quick otherwise.
