17" Smoothies from Airkewld. 8" rear, 6" front. Billet alloy centre, black steel rim. Super hub caps, and Chrome wheel trims. Running Yokohama 195 tyres.
They sneak under the guards with only a credit card width of clearance!

Marc, how is the aluminum center attached to the steel rim? Who did the careful measuring/mocking up to get those to fit? I made 6" steel wheels years ago and was proud that they didn't rub the shocks or the quarter panels. You still have shocks on it, and in the stock location?

I do not have any photos without hubcaps, sorry. I might be able to rustle up something, from when they were on another Coupe.

Martin,
Other than lowering the back of the car, and notching the front torsion bar adjustment, to get front a little lower, all other suspension is stock. There is an Airkewld front disc brake conversion kit on the car, which adds about 30mm all up to front track.
As to getting such wide rimes to fit, admittedly, I did not over think it. Just ordered the wheels, and they bolted on. They do not hit anything. The Alloy centres are bolted to the steel rim, then balanced, obviously. They are not a performance weight product, that I can assure you.
For more info about them, might be best to talk directly to the guys at Airkewld.

Back in the day when you could pick up 911's for 10 large or so, with the four or five I had I always took off the 6's on the front put the rear 7's on the front then bought some 8 or 9's if you were lucky and ran them on the rear. Subsequently I always had a few 6 x 16 Fuchs kicking around so when I started my 356 build up it was a no brainer to run them especially as I had 944 brakes up front and VW drums with the smaller PCD size on the rear. Here's the old girl oh and I did paint the centre caps - sad I know.

I think 5.5x15 fuchs is the cool wheels for your 356
i think the good alternative is to change your set of 6" by a set of 5.5, but i think it's necessary to ad a money with your 6" !
