Started disassembly Monday.

Don't have matching engine and the car has been partially restored twice. Rust in the floors, battery box and some bubbling in the paint.

Andy Daughtery is doing the structural and engine, Paul Daughtery is hopefully doing body work and paint.

I will reassemble. That's the plan, we will see how it goes. Will post pictures.

What brand/type of lift system are you using?
Looks interesting.
Thanks

Harry,

Welcome to the forum!!

The car looks to be a very solid start to a restoration. Please do post pictures and updates as things progress (we love pictures!!).

The lift is a Quick Jack portable system. They make a 3000# and 5000# lift. It works very well, is solid, and has safety bars. I also placed a hydraulic jack under the engine/transmission to release the stress.

Thanks for the welcome. Still trying to figure out the details - sorry for the double post above.

I now have a ding in the back of the roof. Embarrassing. Two steps forward, one step back!

Dropped the engine today courtesy of Andy Daughtery.

I am trying to decide whether to upgrade to 12v during restoration. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Progress Report:

1. Car is totally dismantled. Off to the media blaster this Sunday afternoon, then structural work: floor pans, battery box, misc rust and then to body work and paint.

2. Decisions: the COA shows signal red with red vinyl interior. Had enough of red Porsches so it will be silver exterior with black leather interior.

3. The body and suspension will remain stock but electrical will be upgraded to 12v and driving or fog lights added below the front bumper in place of the lower grills.

4. The engine is not original so I'm asking Andy to modify the engine for a few more HP.

4. Will have two sets of wheels (they are mixed and badly rusted): one will be as original and then I will get a set of 'road' wheels and tires to slightly increase diameter and width to improve road-ability.

That's the plan.

Harry

We discovered more body damage in the front than expected.

Harry, hurry up and get that car finished. My 58 cab is next in line behind yours with Andy. I have been waiting for years (Ken was going to start my restoration originally.) and was hoping to have him start this fall, but I am still in limbo.
