type 4 engine rear support

i know there are a few on here who have a type 4 in their 356....my question is, is rear support needed for this engine? (Mine will only be stock-ish 2 litre, and just used for touring). If so, was any stiffening up of the engine bay done....the rear area of the 356 engine bay is not particularly strong.

(Also, anyone know of any good threads on such a conversion). Thanks, Adrian

Adrian,

The Type 4 engine does not need rear support.

Also, there are a few threads here regarding Type 4's that can be found using the Search function in the upper right side of your screen when you are logged in, here is one:

If you use an 911 trans then you could consider using a rear support but i prefer using the stock u shaped hanger even with a 911 trans.

Adrian: A friend of mine is running a 2.7 ltr. TypeIV with a 901 trans, with the original 356 rear hoop mount. Works fine... Mike
