What octane do you use? With Poll!

#1 Post by David Maxwell »

For those of you running stock or near stock 356 engines, what quality gas do you use?

My compression is not very high, presumably I get no benefit from the 91 octane, but it just seems like the right thing to do. I can't always be logical.

Be-ins, I say BE-INS that the Porsche Spec book identifies stock compression ratios that range from 7.5:1 to 9.5:1, to be a valid data point, I think an octane answer should be accompanied by an engine configuration. Of course, there are very few stock engines running around, so as Jim Nelson says, why not pop for extra couple bucks per tankful and go with "high test."
