Texas Type 4
Would like to know of anyone in Texas with a Type 4 in their 356. I have a 2314 with upright shroud I would like to put in my Outlaw. Have questions with fuel delivery, carbs and A/C hookup. Anyone?

David check the Outlaw Engine Choices further down in this area. The 2.7ltr type4 has a/c in it. As for fuel delivery we used 45mm TWM throttle bodies and Haltec engine management. Tons of torque.. Runs a regeared 901/5 speed. Mike

Re: Texas Type 4
I know people have put A/C in their 356 with a Type 4. Every time I try to find such individuals they seem to be non existant. Just wondering if anyone would like to share their program with others, even if there is no money to be made. wondering about brackets, pulleys, etc on an upright conversion. Thanks in advance, Anyone?

David The A/C unit was bought from a guy in Texas, for a Type 4 in a Porsche. Try jerrywes@gmail.com. He made up the unit for the 63 coupe. Mike

David,
I know this post is ancient but thought I would reach out to you. I have a IV in my 63 Coupe in NC but I do come to Houston frequently to visit my daughter. Did you get it all figured out?

Look at a type II "bay window" 69-78 VW bus. There are lots of carbureted center fans on them. The install except for the aft schroud will be the same. And the bus heater boxes match up with the 356. Have not done AC but they make adapters or a 76 912 bracket should bolt up. There are lots of type 4 motors in old bugs and busses. Just copy what they did

I would speak with Chico Performance in California for a nice 914 engine.
