...installing the short C-type rear torsion bars (together with the appropriate spring plates), on a B?

(I would also fit the softer, progressive C-type rubber buffers, and try to fit the bump stops from a C also).

Torsion bars and spring plates will fit right in. You will HAVE to install the appropriate C bump stop.

Vic, have you run such a converted car, and did you notice any appreciable improvement in ride quality (just for normal road use)

Ride quality is improved with the softer torsion bars.
