What's a Polo motor, and where do I get one?

#1 Post by Dave Erickson »

Ran across these vids on utube:

I like it.

I found the website for Polo Motors, and see that they sell a kit consisting of case, crank, two cams and an oil pump drive, and they sell a dual plug distributor, oil pump, manifolds. Do they use 356 heads? Is anyone on this forum building a Polo motor?

Dave - Check this site: http://www.abcgt.com/forum/6-Hot-Rod--M ... ngine.html

Justin is building a Polo motor and should be able to answer most questions. BTW, the Polo engine uses stock 911 heads.

In addition to their parts, you need a 911 donor motor. Oh, and lots of money!

Here is a project thread on the 912 board:

They are wonderful engines.

Rod Emory has built 12 outlaws with these engines. Emory Motorsports. You should contact him

They are custom cast blocks. They don't use 356 heads.
Canepas actually got his ideas from earlier builds, as Rod did the first ones.

Lots of torque. I highly recommend the engine.

And it's not true you need a 911 donor motor. These are custom made blocks.

Crank case, crank, cams and oil pump drive are custom. I haven't found any published prices but have read on forums that assembled engines are over $30k. Don't forget to upgrade your transmission and brakes too :)

ps same price as a 993 with 280hp

a 901 transmission works and better brakes are always nice.
