tires for 6in Fuchs

#1 Post by Anthony Hall Berry »

Hello all,

My ten year old Yokohama's (A-321VR) are due to be retired. They have been on my deep-6 Fuchs and I need advice on what is out there to replace them with. I like the 185-70 (or 65)-15 look, but basically what are you C and SC owners who run Fuchs using? Thanks in advance.

Tony Berry (been gone from the Registry for a couple of years, and missed it!)

For the most part the major names have left the 15 inch rim/tire universe and moved up to 17, 18 and larger sizes. Coker Tire http://www.cokertire.com/ has become the predominant supplier to the collector car tire market. They offer vintage tread patterns in current manufacturing methods.

Thanks Jeff,

I am hearing that the Vredestein Sprint Classic 185/70HR/15 may be the way to go, as long as it fits the six inch Fuchs.

I have this tire and size on my '63 Coupe and I am very happy with it. "Back in the day" (in my case 1977 when I got my first 356, I used this this tire as it was considered by many to be state of the art. When I got my current 356, in 2010, it came with Vredestein Sprint Classic 185/70HR/15's on it. I considered it a bonus in the purchase.

As far as your rim size question, I looked at a couple of my old tire catalogs and while not specifically a Vredestein listing, they showed the rim width range for this size tire as up to 6.5 inches wide. To be safe, you probably should ask your retailer to be sure.

I run Khumo Ecsta ASX 195/60R15's on my 6" Fuchs. Very happy with them. George '64 Coupe
