Outlaw qualification query

#1 Post by Robert Mattingly »

I recently purchased my first 356, a 1964C coupe. The serial numbers for the engine case, body, and transmission all match the COA but the carbs are Solex's rather than Zeniths. A week or so after I got the car, I received a slim but interesting bunch of miscellaneous receipts which included the fact that inside the engine case is a 1999 full Shasta rebuild. Although a bit hard to start, the engine runs great. The rest of the car appears to be stock. So, am I an OUTLAW or merely a SCOFFLAW?

NAH, you look stock. So at least remove the hood handle, then you can be an outlaw. :D

I think that all you need to do to become an outlaw is to re-stamp the serial numbers on your case. Instant qualification.

OK. Hood handle is gone. Engine case ground & restamped (by PO). Stack of Goodguys mags in the garage. What's next?

LOL!!!!
Many thanks for the kind words Max!!! The engine story is quite nice at this car... but I see it as a scar from an active life!!
Merry Christmas to you and all the friends at the list!!
