It is only complicated to CJ he can't figure out what to do with the extra camshafts.

I'm too busy tapering my cylinders to learn anything new.

Living within the limitations of its' classic design, while still refining what features we can to enhance utility and driving pleasure, this is to me the 356 experience. Going to different motors, more sophisticated suspensions, multi-gear transmissions, maybe all "refinements" on a broad technical scale, change the experience into something else. It may still be a significant and rewarding experience, but it's not the same 356 experience I enjoy.

I agree with this.

OK here goes, as if a query of a Mazda Rotary or electric motor transplant wasn't enough to irritate the non-outlaw contingent I came across this possibly more annoying proposal; Ford's 1 liter ecoboost engine http://jalopnik.com/why-fords-tiny-1-li ... 1543662936
weighs in at 215 lbs, puts out 120 hp, meets current pollution laws, would probably go 150,000 miles before needing a rebuild and undoubtedly would cost less than a rebuilt 1600N. Just where do you put the radiator?
Ray

What ever happened to the guy that was posting about a mid engine 356 he was working on a couple years ago? Was it too big of a project, stalling before completion, or did I miss the final stages? (My guess is the former but I'm hoping it's the latter.)

We've got to stay off the Tequila or is it the darn motorcycles that have corrupted our thinking?
Like Harry Pellow said: "If some is good, more is better and too much is just enough"
BTW an easy chip mod will get a quick 140 hp on that triple!

Don't forget the 1.6L VW turbo diesel conversion in a 65C coupe, done a few years back:

Hi All
Based on economic considerations the cost to convert and the resulting car value the only feasible option is a 4-Cam improved motor.

Ray, you cant put that Ecoboost in a 356 because it won't be able run. A 356 has no computer chip in the key.
