What is under your decklid?

#1 Post by Rod Emory »

I have installed big 356/912 engines, 4 cylinder 911, 911 engines, and big 914 engines. What is in your 356 Outlaw?

Currently in the shop we have two big bore 912's, three 2.4 liter 4cyl 911's, two 3.2 liter 6yl 911's and one 42hp/144 volt electric motor.

Below are a few of the 4cyl 911 engines we have installed

OK Rod, I'll play --

Your examples are certainly very impressive, and I salute you for them, -- but from my little shop of horrors comes this low-buck, go fast, high fuel mileage alternative --

I love this. We have a section for rims, girls, vintage photos, and now the engine. Keep them coming.

Nice stuff Rod... Here's mine, eternally oozing Brad Penn green from the filter.. and a view of the decklid under which it resides... For those who have asked offline, the color is
one I had mixed to my specs and no, I won't provide the codes since having something unique is what I wanted. Back in the day you could have your car painted any color you wished by the factory so IMHO any color that could be mixed during or prior to that time period is a 'correct' color unless you are into using the 'original' color that came with the car. Hoping to see more creative color schemes in the future....

Hey Greg... Make sure everyone is clear that that is a 356 engine with a flat fan. I think that is the only one ever done. Nice job. Hope all is well in Canada.

I love seeing under everyones lid. Thanks guys for posting all of these.

X2

Those 4 cyl. 911 engines and that last "flat" 356 engine have me rethinking my new powerplant.

Thanks for the tips / link today Rod.

FYI. Bermann is no longer making the 911 shroud for the 356 /912 engines.

I apologize, but I must bring a little ugly to this thread. That way the true beauty of your engines can be appreciated!

The BEAST is running a mild mannered 1500 SP VW engine. With a condom on the carb (he's in hibernation..). Also, no worries on the engine trim, I have it.

No worries Jin! I like it -- I ran my car for years on 1200 and 1300 VW engines --

I went to the Canadian GP at MOSPORT many years ago in my car with a 1300 bus engine kicking it. My buddy, who had a 2L 914, was giving me all kinds of grief about how "You should give me your tent, I'll have the campsite picked out and have it all set up by the time you get there!"

Well, we crossed the border at the T.I. bridge, got on the 401, and he took off -- goodbye!

As I watched him disappear in the distance, I just mashed the pedal and held it -- and little by little, it slowly went faster and faster. Then, on a long shallow downgrade west of Kingston, I looked at the clock and it said 90 mph! I BLEW past a long line of cars in the right lane, and, sure enough, one of them was a black 2L 914.

I saw the look on my friends face as I went by him, and I'll never forget it --

PRICELESS :P

More ugly but soon to be pretty, a 914 2056 with up-right cooling. It will be going in a T-5 as soon as I finish the mock-up.
