New style hood holddowns

#1 Post by michael rogers »

These are easy to use, cut to length and apply! They come in silver, red and black (can you get duck tape in any other colors?)

Had to hold the hood down somehow since I removed the hood latch. Just a joke.

Actually, there is some controversy about that --

Some people claim that when it was first introduced during WWII, it was indeed called "Duck Tape" because it was a tape reinforced with cotton "duck" fiber. It was only later when colored silver and used in the HVAC trade that it came to be called "duct" tape.

What we do know for sure is that it is definitely "The Handyman's Secret Weapon" :D

So unless he's got a secret stash of vintage tape in his B29 tool roll still, this would indeed be duct-tape? Neko.

The roll I was using is "Duck" brand! No self respecting HVAC guy uses "duct" tape on any duct work! LOL

Michael

Be careful, that stuff will leave a nasty residue on the paint when you peel it off, so unless your planning on repainting get it off as soon as possible!

Your 100% correct that tape (Duck or Duct, whatever) is never used on duct work. It drys out and has been replaced by the foil tape. It may have been used 30 years ago but no longer.

This discussion is becoming serious. I think it needs to be moved to the Authenticity forum.

What guys in the music industry use, they call "gaffer tape". More expensive, but more of a fabric than plastic. Stronger and tears better too!

Luckily you didn't use the Gorilla Tape. Looks like Duct/Duck (Goose) Tape but you would have needed a plasma cutter to remove it from the hood and nose!
