I have these that have been restored and are ready to install. I have all the arms and legs I need so just make me a "reasonable offer". KTF

Sorry for the late post, but Dr. Dirk H was kind enough to help me out with some filters. Now all I need to do is figure out how they come apart? They do come apart, right?

It depends on how persistent you are. They are not designed to be taken apart. The spacers are swaged to the tops.

You'll need these adapters for you Weber's too. If you don't have them already let me know, I keep them in stock.

hey greg - also looking for price?

do you use a solex gasket for this installation?

do you use a plug for the hole on the BOTTOM of the Knecht air filter?

thanks, brad k in seattle!

Brad,

I actually drilled a set out at the top now. That'll make the mounting much easier. If you drill the bottom, you will always have to guess where the holes are. If you drill the top, the screws will automatically line up with the wholes. in the carb or adapter plate.

Greg is at a big VW car show this weekend so I wouldn't expect that he will respond until Monday or Tuesday.

Dirk is saying he drilled out the top of the carbs instead of the bottoms so he didn't have to blindly find the holes when putting the screws in.

Solex and Weber gaskets are used. No worries on the hole in the bottom of the air cleaner, the gaskets seal that for you.

I want to do this to a set of Knecht air cleaners I have. I plan on putting the K&N element inside.

I am running a set of Weber 40 IDF's. I know I will need to buy the adaptor plates, but I am currently running velocity stacks inside the air cleaners I have now. Would it be worthwhile to try to modify the Knechts further to accommodate velocity stacks inside too?

Would this setup be too restrictive to air flow to do any good anyway?
